Percussion is a large family of musical instruments. They are named like that because the method of stimulating these instruments is percussion: the sound produced is caused by striking the instrument (or part of it) with a special component (eg, baguette) or with the hands. Percussion instruments are classified into two main subcategories, membranous and idiophonic: they consist of a usually cylindrical body with a stretched membrane in its openings; they can be striked completely (ie, hitting any part of their body). The membranophones include the drums, the daouli, the tambourine, and others; It is worth noting that a set of drums consists of membrane and idiophonic percussion.<\/p>\n\n
At the percussion school of the Lefkada Philharmonic Society, students start from the first steps, such as the way the baguettes are held and the correct posture during the musical performance. Then they learn the musical values \u200b\u200band are taught top methods of learning percussion instruments to develop their technique and the ability to perform musical themes on the instrument. At the same time, they learn the musical pieces to be played with the Bandina and the Band performances, as well as marches and musical themes, which the Band plays in services (parades, processions, etc.).<\/p>\n\n
The lessons are private (one student at a time) and take place in a specially designed room in the building of the Lefkada Philharmonic Society, while at the end of each school year students prepare and perform a musical theme, which exhibits their skills.<\/p>\n\n
The trainees start learning the percussion instruments in the drum, while then, depending on their progress and skills, they continue their training in other percussion instruments such as the grand cassa, the cymbals, drums and percussion \u2013 all of them are very essential to the Band\u2019s needs.<\/p>\n\n
