Bandina
n August 1977, at the Lefkas Festival of Speech and Art, the Bandina of the Lefkada Philharmonic Society appears for the first time. It was a work of effort and toil of the instructors, mainly of Anastasios Kopsidas. The founding of a Bandina, an ensemble of children up to 15 years old, which could play marches and other musical pieces, is an important and unique fact since no other Philharmonic Orchestra in Greece – except the one of the Municipality of Athens – had founded a Bandina at that time.
This remarkable achievement came as a result of the efforts of the active and tireless Instructor and Chief Musician Anastasios Kopsidas, and the help of the Instructor and Musician Konstantinos Kaminaris. Both of them spent timeless efforts, overcame many difficulties and finally presented the first Bandina consisting of 28 girls and boys aged 9 to 15 years old.
Today the Bandina consists of 35-40 children, boys and girls, which show great dedication and talent. The Bandina performs its own concerts or appears accompanying our the Band in Litany, Funerals, Parades etc .
The Bandina is the academy of the Philharmonic, where the new generation of musicians is trained to be able to staff the Band in the future.
